Loss of One of Our Mirrors

Posted by: dreamsgate under News on October 8, 2007 |

For the last two years, Apollux has graciously hosted/mirrored issues of Blenderart Magazine.

But I got some sad news to bring you: Apollux-Designs will be no more. Apollux wrote to tell me:

When I started the page it was with the idea of having a place to educate people about the visual arts (including 3DCGI) and also having a place to display my own works. But somehow it never came to happen. I got caught up in work or university or whatever and in the end the page never realized it’s potential.

Now, 2 years later, the webhosting company is letting me know that our service contract is coming to it’s due date and if I want to renew I should take action, but during those 2 years most of the space and the features the company provides me have been seating around underutilized…. so I decided against renewing it.

Back when apollux-designs started a full featured website seemed like the perfect way to accomplish the goals of educating and displaying, but the internet has changed A LOT on that time and now I realize that anyone wanting to do the same thing would be best served by a Blog and an account on DeviantArt or Flickr, so that’s provably where Apollux-Designs is headed if it will ever reappear on the net.

So, this is why I must let you know that after October 29th the account will be closed. After that date any files stored on the server will become inaccessible, so if you need to backup anything better do it before that day.

We here at BAM are sad to see our partnership with Apollux end, but we wish him the best in whatever endeavors he undertakes in the future.

  1. Hi,

This is sad. Thanks to Appolux for his efforts the last few years!

I could arrange some space for mirroring, I think. If you need it, you can contact me to decide how we could proceed. I’d be glad to help.

    Cheers,
